any one remember him ? he was a PTI in osnatrash and got killed on his way to denmark to get married . he was driving a mini ( cooper ) i think when he was involved in an accident about 1970/1.....mind he never did drive the bloody thing slowly ? still i have fond memories of the lad as he WAS one of the lads ....RIP mate

Yes, remember Ron very well. Bought his mini a few months after i got mine.

On one occasion he and I left Osnabruck at the same time heading for the ferry at Zeebrugge, racing all the way in our mini's.

We were okay.kept together all the way to Venlo, where he was stopped for a search and i was allowed straight through. (This was in the days before open borders)

I sat on the ferry and watched him scream aboard in his car, last one on, and we had a pint in the bar with him cursing all the worlds border guards.

Memories, always tinged with sadness.

Was he ex 5th .
We got grab to go to Hanover to bring some one back from the Airport who had gone AWOL .
On the way back he said he knew a quicker way back . The mist came down . He did not have a map . We got back to Osnbruck at some ungodly Hour .
Cold and damp . Who ever thought of sending a Bedford to Hanover must have thought we were picking up a Troop of people . My heart bleeds!
