Les, a member of this forum, and a former Desert Rat, died on Wednesday 6th April. His daughter Lyndsay has just emailed me today, Saturday. My deepest condolensces to all his family.

Saw Les on Discovery Channel walking the normandy battlefield with a former german soldier of the same era, lets hope more of us can continue into our eighties.

RIP Les, icon_chie: my father was also a Desert Rat, he was RASC, he died a long time ago.

My uncle was a "rat" - died of typhoid just days before Alamein.

I don't think my Dad was a Rat but he did fight with the 8th Army in the desert as part of the 208th Airborn Brigade then plied his trade as a Chindit in Burma.
