Branch RTRA Meeting
Minutes for Meeting Number 4 Held
at the Masonic Lodge, Southport on 02 June 2007
1. Opening welcome address by the Secretary.
The Secretary, Paul Ramsay,
opened the meeting and thanked everyone for coming along.
He hoped
everyone would enjoy the evening, and gave apologies for those who could
not attend..
2. Loyal Toasts – the Queen - the Regiment and then Absent Friends.
The Chairman, Jeff Lyman offered the Loyal Toasts.
3. The Secretary read out the minutes of the last meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were passed as read by all attending members.
4. Membership Numbers (Treasurer).
The Treasurer, Gordon Farrell informed the meeting that the Branch membership was now up to 94 members, and 8 Honorary members.
5. Welfare (Secretary).
The secretary spoke of the two ongoing cases, no new cases had been reported in this period.
6. PRI Items (Secretary).
The Branch was now holding the
polo shirts in stock but were still being ordered to order so to speak.
There will be a new Branch Plaque ready for the AGM in September.
7. Cambrai - 2007 and the visit to Bovington/Lulworth/A Sqn 1 RTR .
The Secretary gave an update on
the visit to Cambrai and would inform members of the detail once
received.
He also spoke on the proposed visit to Bovington /Lulworth and Warminster
in October – again more details to follow.
Remember you
have to join the branch to go on the official trips.
8. Web Site update.
The secretary thanked Mike Kemble for keeping the site on an even keel.
9. Guest Speakers – new Regimental Secretary.
The Secretary confirmed that the new Regimental
Secretary, Major (Retd) Colin Heburn, (ex 3 RTR) would visit Scarborough
in
September and say a few words at the Branch Meeting. It was hoped he
would present the prizes at the Golf day.
10 Closer ties to 1RTR.
The Secretary would continue to investigate ways that the Branch could make closer ties with the Regiment.
11 AOB
The Gotobed family, have confirmed their attendance for the handing over of the Standard at the next meeting in Scarborough.
12. Dates of next meeting and closing address by the Secretary.
The date of the next meeting is the AGM on Saturday 15th September at 1200hrs in the Grand Hotel Scarborough.
The Secretary thanked Pete Tinsley and all those who had helped make today possible

Scarborough (1RTR) Branch RTRA Meeting Minutes for Meeting Number 2 Held at Morley RUFC on 13 January 2007
1. Opening welcome address by the Chairman and Secretary.
The Chairman, Jeff
Lyman, opened the meeting and thanked everyone for coming along and hoped
they would enjoy the nights entertainment,
after the rugby team gave us a
last minute win.
2. Loyal Toasts – the Queen - the Regiment and then Absent Friends.
Jeff Lyman, the Chairman, offered the Loyal Toasts.
3. The Secretary read out the minutes of the last meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were passed as read by all attending members.
4. Membership Numbers (Treasurer).
The Treasurer was not in attendance and the Secretary
told the Members we are now up to 95 members (we got 5 new members on the
night).
A copy of the financial statement was read out and copies passed
round the room.
5. Welfare (Secretary).
The secretary spoke of the two ongoing cases and the position they were in
– Ian Sanderson is not well and deteriorating and Paddy Burke
is improving
now he has got his electric scooter and can now get out and about on his
own. Thanks to Huddy for keeping us up to date with this.
6. PRI Items (Secretary).
The Secretary spoke on the polo shirts and Fleeces he
had in stock and that we had had a problem with the supplier but this was
now cleared up
and the members who had ordered these items should have them quite quickly
now.
7. Away Days and Cambrai 2007 (visit to Bovington/Lulworth/1 RTR) (Secretary).
The Secretary spoke on the visit to Cambrai and would
inform members when he got more details. The Chairman spoke of a visit to
Bovington and
Lulworth in September – again more details to follow.

8. Web Site update – (Mike Kemble).
Mike spoke on the future of the web site – it will
remain HIS site and the branch will make a donation for its use. He also
spoke on the
setting up of the site which should have coincided with the
formation of the Branch but it took that long to form the Branch the site
started
on its own and has gone from strength to strength. The site will
remain as it is for the time being and will be funded from donations
of
members of the site as and when Mike requests donations.
9. Guest Speakers – new Regimental Secretary.
I have confirmed that the new Regimental Secretary (Major (retd) Colin Heburn ex 3 RTR) will visit Scarborough in September and say a few words at the Branch Meeting.
10. Invite to 1 RTR for September – letter to the CO.
I will again be inviting the Co and RSM and any other serving members of 1 RTR to attend the September weekend.
11. Closer ties to 1RTR.
The Secretary will be seeing as to what can be done to enable us, as a branch to make closer ties with the Regiment.
12. Newsletters – content and view others. (Secretary).
It
is intended to send out a six monthly newsletter to all members – if YOU
have anything to put in the newsletter please send it to me asp.
Jokes –
photos, any dates for any occasion and I will put it together and send to
all members.
13. AOB
The Chairman spoke briefly on the conduct of members, and that the
nonsense on the website had to stop, it was not branch business and would
not be discussed. It is sad to lose members but the majority far out
weigh the minority who want to cause mischief.
14. Dates of next meeting and closing address by the Chairman.
Again the Chairman thanked all for coming. The date of the next meeting
is the 24th March at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool, all are
invited and
the meeting will take place at 1900hrs at a venue within the
Hotel. Paddy Carroll is the contact for this event.

Minutes of the
Scarborough Branch Meeting
Held at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough
Saturday 9 September 2006
The meeting opened at 1200hrs and the newly elected committee were voted
in.

1. The Loyal Toasts were made to the Queen - the Regiment and Absent
Friends.
2. Annual fees were discussed and agreed at £20 initial joining fee and
£10 per year thereafter.
3. Memberships were taken and initially 79 members sign up to the Branch —
a further 13 members have been added so far and hopefully
more at the next
meeting in Morley. The Secretary gave the reasons why we should all be
members.
4. Membership Rules were issued and members were informed that they needed
to contact RHQ RTR to ascertain if they were members
of the Association.
Honorary members were discussed and the following were offered Membership:
All widows of ex 1RTR soldiers/officers; two of our sick members (Paddy
Burke and Sandy Sanderson); the three Americans Ernie Ford,
Ned Devereaux
and Bill Clarke and finally our Administrator Keith Wapshott (son of ex
SSgt Derek Wapshot). The members present voted all
of these people in.
5. It was agreed by the members that we hold 4 meetings per annum at
venues to be chosen by local area reps, who would run these events.
6. The next meeting
would be held at the Morley Rugby Club. This venue has strong links to the
Regiment and was the meeting place for the
Leeds Branch RTRA before it
disbanded. Paul Robinson agreed to host this event.
7. It was agreed that a meeting would be held in Liverpool in March and a
further meeting in Southport in July — details are not yet known for
these
last two events.
8. The AGM would be held in Scarborough in September 2007.
9. Our two welfare cases - Sandy and Paddy - are doing as well as can be
expected. An update on Sandy first. His house has been tailored for
him
and he now has a speaking machine to communicate with others. He is not
well but bearing up. Paddy Burke has got his motorised scooter
and is now
able to get about more. Through this, his health has improved no end —
Keith Hudson is a frequent visitor and informs us of his progress.
Flowers
were sent on Cambrai Day to the two loyal wives who were both overwhelmed
that we thought of them!
10. Cambrai visit next year was spoken about and the Secretary confirmed
that he was investigating funding from the lottery to offset the cost.
Details of this and other trips would be sent to all branch members.
11. The possibility of guest speakers/visitors was discussed.
12. The web site was mentioned and Mike Kemble was praised for his work on
the site.
13. There were a few suggestions for Naafi Breaks. (After note: The first
one was held in Leeds in December).
14. Closer ties with 1RTR were spoken about and this will be an ongoing
agenda item.
15. The President spoke of his delight at being asked to be the first
President of the Branch and the need to be one big family.
16. The meeting closed at l300hrs.
